The grade three’s started off their day with math review. The class then went to the gym for DPA. We finished off the morning with math review. Students will spend this week reviewing repeated addition, arrays, related facts, multiplication and division.
After recess the students did another lesson from the I’m a Gift from God program. We will be wrapping up the program next week. The students also had a lesson on the liturgical calendar.
This afternoon the students participated in the Fantastic Five. Students did independent reading, a socials activity on man made resources and natural resources, a comprehension activity, worked on their liturgical calendar activity and had a work period to complete math from this morning or any unfinished work.
The grade three’s began their day with mass. After mass the students did the Fantastic Five. Students did independent reading, group reading, science landforms research on canyons and islands, a comprehension sheet and a socials write up on domesticated animals. After recess the students had 25 minutes after recess to complete their work and research from this morning. The students then had PE. This afternoon the grade three’s had a math lesson on how multiplication and division are related. The students then completed work from the textbook independently or with a partner. The class then used the remainder of their day completing work from this morning or starting their Ted Harrison art work. Homework:
This morning the grade three’s started the day with assembly. After assembly the class had their spelling test from last week. The students then did their spelling pretest, made corrections and worked on their spelling sentences.
After recess the students had 10 more minutes to work on their spelling sentences. The students then did their first multiplication and division review activity to prepare for their math test next week.
After lunch the grade three’s had music then 15 additional minutes to work on their math from this morning. The class then worked on some natural resources worksheets. The class also watched one of the youtube videos below to help them learn about renewable and non renewable resources. In science the students learned about volcanoes and how they form as well as some of the different kinds.
The grade three’s spent their morning working on their student led conferences brochures. The entire school then attended mass.
After recess the class continued to work on their brochures and prepare their desks for their conferences tomorrow. The class then went to music.
This afternoon the class wrote cinquain poems about themselves. The students then assembled their art portfolios and practiced showing their friends their work on the bulletin boards.
Please feel free to come earlier than your scheduled time. Conferences are led by your child and it will be their job to show you their work. Take your time to ask your child questions about their worth.
The grade three’s began their day by finishing their mountain posters from yesterday. The students then spent the day completing work and good copies in preparation for their student led conference this Thursday. The students completed their good copies of their letters to Mrs. Charanin about why they shouldn’t get homework, their perspective art, deserted island illustrations and deserted island survival steps.
The grade threes began their morning with a school assembly. After assembly the students had their spelling pre-test and put their words in their planners. As assembly was quite long today they only had a minimal amount of time to work on their spelling sentences. After recess the students had a socials lesson on natural resources. We discussed what natural resources are and why they are important. We then read about some of the natural resources found in BC. Students then worked independently on a natural resources circle. They used what they knew, learned and read in the textbook to think of as many natural resources and products we get from them. The class then compared with a partner and then shared as a class.
This afternoon the grade three’s had music. After music the class watched a youtube video (below) on how mountains are formed. Then, in small groups they had to discuss what they learned and use words and pictures to create a small poster so they could explain to another group about the process. The students spend the remainder of the day working on science group posters.

The grade three’s started their day with religion. We did another lesson from the I’m a Gift from God program. The class then went to the library to continue their landform research and work on writing activity about surviving on a deserted island.
After recess the students had a work period to finish their French posters, lost pet good copy writing and perspective art. The class then went to music.
This afternoon the class went to PE. They finished their day with division problem solving from their textbook.
