Tuesday February 28

Students started their morning with PE. After PE the class continued to work on mixed fractions and do a math review sheet. The class then went to the library to listen to a story read by Mr. Boreham.

After recess the students had additional time to work on and receive help on their fraction sheets. We will spend the next week reviewing mixed numbers, fractions and drawing fractions. The students then had a lesson on just and unjust situations and the important of equality.

This afternoon the students participated in the Fantastic Five. Students did independent reading, group reading, an Lent writing activity, handwriting a and d and worked on their religion writing.

Monday February 27

The grade three’s began their morning with their spelling pre-test. The students then spent the morning making corrections, putting words in their planners and working on their spelling sentences. The students also had their class photo this morning and practiced our speech arts poem.

After recess the students learned about mixed fractions and worked on 1 worksheet on mixed fractions and one review sheet on fractions. The students will be having a fraction test next Wednesday.

This afternoon the grade three’s had music. After music the class continued talking about erosion. We watched some YouTube videos and as a class completed some activities. We finished off the day with French.

Friday February 24

The grade three’s started off their morning with school mass. After mass the students participated in the Fantastic Five. Students did independent reading, had two blocks to work on the good copy of their Diamante poem, a comprehension sheet and finished their handwriting for yesterday and worked on the letter c and o.

After recess the student had a work period to complete activities from this morning. The students then did their spelling test and a small math review activity on fractions.

This afternoon the students finished their math, had DPA and a mini popcorn party outside. We read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and worked on Ted Harrison art this afternoon. We finished off the day with math bingo.

Thursday February 23

The grade three’s started off their day with the Fantastic Five. Ms. Sheppard did a lesson on how to write a dimante poem. Students did independent reading, group reading, handwriting, a journal entry and a diamante poem.

After recess the students had a short work period. The class then did a review activity on what they have learned about fractions so far.

This afternoon the student’s listened to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The class then worked on their natural resources booklet then had a work period for the remainder of the afternoon before going to PE.

Wednesday February 22nd

The grade three’s had a wonderful day today! All their hard work paid off this afternoon as they were chosen to move forward to the Speech arts finals the first week of March. Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work and assistance in helping your children at home! It really makes a big difference.

This morning the grade three’s went to the library. There half the class worked on handwriting e and l and the other half of the class worked on researching canyons, deserts and plains.

After recess the students continued with their handwriting and practiced for speech arts before going to music.

This afternoon the class performed their speech arts poem in front of the judges and other primary classes. They did a wonderful job, I am beyond proud of them! They finished off the day with PE and read aloud time of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Tuesday February 21st

The grade three’s started off their day with PE. After PE the class did a math lesson on comparing fractions (greater than and less than) and completed questions in their math textbook.

After recess the students practiced their speech arts poem. They then did a short writing activity for religion about the Liturgical calendar.

This afternoon they had a special in class field trip from a scientist who introduced them to the topic of matter. It was a wonderful presentation where the students learned about electrons, protons, density, states of matter and plasma (among other things).

We finished off the day with more practice of our class poem. Tomorrow afternoon the grade three’s will be reciting the poem.

Monday February 20

The grade three’s started their day off with their spelling pre-test. The students then made their corrections, put their words in their planner and finished their spelling sentences. After recess the class practiced for speech arts and then had another lesson on fractions. Today we talked about numerators and denominators.

This afternoon the class the music. After music we practiced for speech arts again, play French games and then worked on their natural resources booklets. We finished off the day practicing speech arts.

Friday February 17

The grade three’s started off their day with the Fantastic Five. The grade three’s did independent reading, group reading, a paragraph on their favourite season, handwriting and forked on their natural resources booklet.

After recess the students had a short work period and finished off the morning with PE.

After lunch the class practiced their speech arts poem. The students then had their spelling test and did a math lesson on fractions. The class finished off the day with a work period to minimize homework this weekend.
