Monday May 8th

The grade three’s started off their day with assembly. After assembly the students did their spelling pre-test, made corrections, put their words in their planners and worked on their spelling sentences.

After recess the students did one of the last parts of their language art standardized test. The class then did a short math review and had a mini math quiz to see how they are doing with differentiating between line plots and bar graphs. Tomorrow they will begin reviewing graphing and data analysis in preparation for their up coming math test.

This afternoon the students had music. After music the class continued to work on their socials research on how different cultures tell stories. The students finished off the day by doing an experiment about mixtures and solutions.

Friday May 5, 2017

The grade three’s started off the day with the Fantastic Five. Students did independent reading, group reading, worked on a mother’s day card, had a work period and wrote a journal entry.

After recess the students had a lesson on sequencing and how to put a story in order. The class talked about how stories have a beginning, middle and end. Students were each given a copy of Little Red Red Riding Hood. Students then had to cut up the story and sequence it into the correct order. Then, the class worked on some math problem solving.

This afternoon the students continued to work on their story sequencing. Students that finished worked on their collage art and mother’s day card. The class finished with DPA.

Thursday May 4th

The grade three’s started their day with the Fantastic Five. Students had a lesson on idioms. The class did independent reading, group reading, a comprehension sheet, had a work period and illustrated an idiom and explained its meaning.

After recess the students had a science lesson on mixtures and talked about what they wanted to be in French.

This afternoon the grade three’s continued with their standardized testing. The students then had a work period and worked on their art collages The class finished off the day with PE.

Wednesday May 3rd

The grade three’s started their day with religion. Miss Sheppard introduced the unit about Mary and talked about how May is the month of Mary. After religion the students continued with their standardized testing. Students will continue to do end of year testing several times a week for the next 3 weeks. After testing the students went to the library and checked out library books, worked on Light Bot and read a new currents 4 kids article.

After recess, the students finished the second part of the testing for the day. The class then went to music.

This afternoon the grade three’s had PE. The grade three’s finished off the day with pictographs.

Tuesday May 2

The grade three’s started off their day with PE. After PE the students in choir went to choir practice. The entire school then had a mass for the Holy Childhood Association. The student then ate lunch.

This afternoon the students did the Fantastic Five. The grade three’s did independent reading, group reading, handwriting, an activity on elements of story and had a work period.

After recess the class did a math activity where they worked in small groups to collect and organize data for a bar graph. After math the students did a French lesson on school subjects.

This afternoon the grade three’s had music. After music the students talked about how other cultures tell stories. Miss Sheppard finished off the day with a new science lesson on chemical changes.

The grade three’s started off the day with choir practice. After choir practice the students did journal writing and some science review sheets.

Thursday April 27

The grade three’s started off the morning with the Fantastic Five. Students had a lesson about oxymorons from Miss Sheppard. The class worked on independent reading, group reading, an oxymoron activity on the carpet, a comprehension sheet and did a new bioglyph.

This afternoon the grade three’s listened to James and the Giant Peach. The students then listened to James and the Giant Peach. Miss Sheppard then let the students listen to “Cloudwalker” as told by the author. The students then did a science lesson on drawing physical changes. The grade three’s ended their day with PE.
